Chet Green-
Solstice To Equinox

3:26

It’s a redundant little number I recorded inside a friend’s closet Labor Day weekend of 1991 on 8 track cassette, fittingly just up the street from Ralph’s (where no prices are lower prices than Ralph’s) on Sunset.

Dan Buxbaum- Leftyland

4:24

All music composed and played by Dan Buxbaum; sound designer/musician. Instruments used: marimba and other various tuned and untuned percussion (both electronic & acoustic), electronic drum set, keyboards, guitar. No samplers, sequencers or drum machines were used in the creation of this track. All grooves guaranteed 100% organic! (If you like this, email for info on the 60 min. album from where this track originally appeared.)

(In my best humble and approximating opinion this composition is in the time signature of 15/8).

Darkhop (John S. Hopkins)- Beelzebonehead

1:21

Darkhop (John S. Hopkins)

Mine is about a minute & a half of percussive noises with a little bit of token note-like dingleberries for texture. It’s called Beelzebonehead for no reason I can think of.

Dennis Versteeg- The Invisible Box

1:46

This instrumental thingy is called The Invisible Box. All 1:46 of it were written and performed by me, using Cubase and a very simple midi keyboard in June 1996 on my former roommate’s computer and it was lurking on several succesive hard disks ever since. The song didn’t have a name until this project came along (it was stored with the exciting name ‘dennis-03.mid’). When I submitted it I had to think of a name. I was watching tv at the same time and I saw a mime doing ‘the trapped in an invisible box’ thing and lo and behold I had my title. As a non-musician I’m quite proud of this effort, although I must admit to have done some note-shifting in Cubase after playing it to make it sound more tight and listenable.

The Duke of Prunes- Eliot Caged

6:04

The Duke of Prunes        A spoken-word quartet whose text shall remain unidentified for copyright-infringement reasons. You will fail to notice the following interesting features:
     (i) The voices fall into groups (duet vs. duet, trio vs solo, etc.) based on opposing meters and sections of the text.
(ii) These groups are constantly shifting in ways chosen randomly, but within a very carefully defined frame work.
(iii) The rhythm of each voice, as well as the section of text read, is also chosen randomly.
You are much more likely to notice the clay pot drum played by the sound engineer, the Duke’s awful French accent, and a bizarre emphasis on the word the. The Duke calls this piece Fake Art. It had its world premiere in front of an audience of perplexed MBA students.
The Duke now lives in Los Angeles, near Canter’s Delicatessen.
